"Have You Lost Your Marbles" was completed today other than a coat of retouch varnish once the paint is dry to the touch. This 9" x 12" oil on panel painting gave me the opportunity to have some fun and revisit one of my favorite items to paint.....marbles. Early in April my husband and I saw a program on the local news highlighting a store in Scottsdale that specializes in nostalgic items from the 40's, 50's, and 60's. Shortly after, I made a trip down to Scottsdale to view an art exhibit at Legacy Gallery and decided to check out the store which was only a half block away. It was certainly fun to do a little "walking down memory lane" with hoola hoops, candy cigarettes, and a number of other items from my childhood. I saw this cute little toy truck and couldn't resist...... I definitely got the itch to paint it as I looked at it......the siren call of the paintbrush! Once home I started thinking about what kind of setup might work with the little red truck.....and it wasn't long before a load of marbles came to mind. Of course as I was trying to set it up the marbles kept escaping......and the title was born. If you want to see how I managed the marbles to get this setup check out my May newsletter.
