"L is for Licorice" is the latest in my Alphabet Block Series of 6" x 6" oil paintings to be completed.   This painting can be totally blamed on my Easter basket.  Every year my wonderful brother-in- law, Bob, sends me an Easter basket all the way from Ohio.  It is certainly something I look forward to each year.....and not just for the chocolate bunnies.  Bob always finds the neatest stuffed animals and little toys to include amongst all the candy.  And of course there are always jelly beans!  I like jelly beans......but I am not a fan of licorice.  Luckily, my husband, Bob (lots of Bobs), likes licorice so they certainly do not go to waste.  With the purchase of a bag of Twizzler Licorice Sticks I was ready to begin the setup.   It didn't take long to find a design of licorice sticks and jelly beans around the block that I liked and the painting began.  I couldn't wait for the point where I began painting the highlights......they just brought the licorice to life!!
