"A Snack for the Road" came off the easel today.  This is the largest painting I have painted to date at 27" x 21".  I enjoy painting large, but the logistics become more of an issue.  I find myself moving the painting up and down on my easel as I work on different sections of the painting.  I had puchased the table mat at Valeries, a local shop that carries western furniture and accessories in Cave Creek a few weeks ago.  I just loved the rusty orange color and knew it had to be part of a painting.  I wasn't sure what the setup would be until I saw these Gerbera Daisies at a local florist as I was walking by the store window.  I went in and picked out the vibrant yellow and orange flowers along with sone goldenrod for a colorful bouquet.The rest of the still life setup seemed to come together from items around the house.  I soon found myself thinking of the things that someone would have on a table to pick up as they were leaving the house and selected items accordingly.  I started out calling it "Gerbera Daisies", but a friend said it looked like the setup for "A Snack for the Road" and the new name stuck!  I hope you like it!
