"Color Riot" has finally left the easel!    "Color Riot", my latest painting, is a 16" x 16" oil on panel.  I seem to have a tendency to select very complex detailed compositions and this painting definitely followed the trend.    The first layer alone was very challenging getting all the ribbons with their twists and turns in place.  As is usually the case, I found myself changing things around as I painted.....gumball colors or ribbon positions.  Finally I was happy with the composition and things began to fall into place as I added the layers.  I originally titled it "Gumballs and Ribbons" but everyone who saw it in progress said wow....look at the bright color.  It wasn't long before the title "Color Riot" was running through my head and the name change was made.  I do love bright color!!
