I was excited to be notified that "Time and Money" (20x16 oil on panel) has been juried into the National Oil and Acrylic Painter's Society's 2021 Best of America Small Paintings Show.  The show will be hosted by Principle Gallery in Charleston, SC opening on May 7th.  

Introducing "Horsepower" (16"x20" oil on panel), my latest painting.  This painting was the result of another walk through the house looking for something to paint.  In the office I spotted these glass bookends and immediately knew they would be fun to paint.  How have they escaped my notice until now??  So the point becomes what the rest of the setup should be.  The position the two horses are in is called a levade in the dressage discipline.  For those not familiar with dressage it is what you see in the olympics when horses seem to be dancing.    A levade is a movement at the very highest levels of dressage training.  It takes tremendous strength and collection for a horse to do this semi rear and hold the position.  Definitely horsepower in action.  So thinking horsepower I began looking around.  My eye caught the many books my husband's has on cars.  Bob worked for Ford and is a Ford enthusiast.  And I must admit I am a sports car person myself and owned a couple of corvettes in my younger years so there are also books on corvettes on the book shelf.  Let's face it....Mustangs, Ford Trucks and Corvettes are another form of horsepower in action.  Perfect!

This week I received the wonderful news that "Playing With Black and White" was juried into this year's American Women Artists exhibition. There were over 2,200 entries by 675 artists and only 150 paintings were selected. I am honored to be one of them. The show will be online this year due to Covid.  Normally the show would be hosted by a museum as part of AWA's 25 in 25 museum shows in 25 years goal.  The show will open May 20th and run through August 21st.
