S is for Steer

"S is for Steer" is my latest painting. I have done a number of paintings since my last blog post....but they have all been of marbles similar to previous marble paintings. My newest gallery is requesting my debut in June to include a number of marble paintings. Because they are so similar to my other marble paintings I did not introduce them in blog posts. However, I have managed to squeeze in a piece from my Alphabet Block series for the letter S. This antique toy cow is designed to be a pull along toy...but the string and pull along apparatus have gone their way over time. I decided not to recreate the string but to let the steer be the star on its own which it does quite nicely. I took a little artistic license on the colors of the alphabet block letters changing the color of a couple of them to enhance the composition. The toy does not have an eye....and I can't tell you what a struggle it was not to add one....but in this instance I decided authenticity should reign. "S is for Steer" is a 6"x6" oil on panel painting that is available through Simon Gallery of Fine Art in Tucson.
