I am pleased to share that I received notification that "C is for Corks" made the FAV 15% in the October Boldbrush Painting Competition!   The FAV 15%  is the jury's favorite 15% of the entries for each month's competition.  The competition in the Boldbrush shows is intense even though it is online because if offers great money prizes each month and is extensively promoted.  Making even the 15% is exciting!

As in past years,  the International Guild of Realism arranged to have a professional video produced around the

annual exhibition.  The video is almost 15 minutes long...but includes interviews with some of the artists as well as many views of the paintings and receptions.  Yours truly shows up a few times.  Enjoy!!

Today I put a final coat of varnish on "The Case of the Missing Marbles",  a 9" x 12" oil painting on panel.  For those of you who do not get my newsletter (to sign up click here), you may be thinking that this painting was completed some time ago.  Your confusion is well founded.  This painting is a commission for a gentleman who saw my painting, "Have You Lost Your Marbles", at the International Guild of Realism Show after it was already sold.  He contacted me through my website looking for a similar painting.  I did not have a painting that was similar so offered to paint one for him using the same setup.   Although the little truck is the same, I changed all the marbles and actually added a couple of additional marbles.    You know what?  It was just as much fun to paint the second time!

If you are going to be in the Phoenix area the last two weekends in November this is a not to be missed event!  After a year off I am once again a participating artist in Studio 35.

Last night was the final event I am involved in for the International Guild of Realism Show at the Tempe Art Center.   The Tempe Art Center holds an artist panel for each of their shows.  The IGOR artists who live locally were invited to participate in the panel and seven of us were able to do so.  The gallery director, Michelle Dock, brought us up in groups of two or three to ask questions based on a theme around our work in the show.  I was paired with Steve Rude and our theme was humor or satire as out artwork had humorous aspects.  It was interesting to hear my fellow artists talk about their work, what inspires them and techniques that they use.  Of course, added to the experience was the fact that I attended the event with a group of my friends from the Sonoran Arts League.   From the left is Pam Mangelsdorf who also had an piece in the show and participated on the panel.  Next to her is Lucy Dickens.  After yours truly is Beth Cox and then Melanie Frey.  Click on their names to check out their wonderful art.  It was a great evening!!
