It is always gratifying to learn that you were successful in having a painting juried into a show you have entered.  Today I learned that "Pool Balls"  was  accepted into the National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society (NOAPS) 2016 Spring International On-Line Exhibit.  The acceptance notification stated the following:

"The participation and quality of work submitted was excellent.  NOAPS is pleased to inform you that your entry has been selected for the exhibit.  The jurors had a very difficult job of selecting 150 paintings from the over 700 paintings entered.  Many of the paintings entered were EXCEPTIONAL and you can feel very proud and honored to have your painting accepted.  Your painting will be proudly displayed on the NOAPS website:  www.noaps.org."

I was definitely proud and honored!  "Pool Balls" is available at Vail Village Arts, Vail, CO.

For my latest painting I am back to pool balls, stripes and plenty of reflections which is probably not a surprise to anyone.    "Pool Shots" is a 12" x 24" oil painting on panel.   I so enjoyed painting "Stripes and Solids" that I knew I would be putting together another composition utilizing some of the same elements.  I wanted silver with reflections, but I also wanted to highlight the reflections of the stripes on the pool balls themselves.  To do this I needed to have the pool balls sitting on the striped surface or close enough to pick  up the stripes.  Rummaging around the house soon found me with silver shot glasses.  The double shot glass holding the 8 ball is actually silver (Tiffany no less....).  The smaller shot glasses are plastic made to look like silver......but they sure meet the goal of reflecting the stripes.  My next painting is also going to involve the black and white striped surface......but it does not include silver or pool balls......however the reflections will once again be in play so stay tuned.  "Pool Shots" is on hold as it has been entered into an upcoming exhibition.
