"X is for X-ray" is the final painting to be completed in my Alphabet Block series.  It took a little longer to dry in order to be varnished than Y and Z.    I knew I wanted to do something with x-rays....but it took me awhile to settle on hands.  I even contemplated placing the X block inside a skeleton where the stomach would be as if it had been swallowed.  But in the end with only a 6" x 6" panel to work with the hands seemed to be the perfect composition.

"Z is for Zebra" is the final letter in my Alphabet Block series of paintings.   Like many I have always been fascinated with zebras and their bold black and white stripes.  It was very interesting to more closely study the shape and direction of the stripes as I painted...talk about variation.  Fascinating creatures.....and fun to paint!

"Y is for Yo-Yo" is one of the last of my Alphabet Block series of 6" x 6" paintings to be completed.  Of course.....what rolls off your tongue when saying Y is for......... yo-yos of course.  I must admit...I did not have any yo-yos hanging around the house...but they are still as popular as ever and still available.  I was never very good with a yo-yo as far as the fancy tricks,  but I have many fond memories of trying.

The star of "W is for Wagon" is a small replica of a Radio Flyer wagon that my husband picked up in one of our visits to antique shops.  Bob has a love for Radio Flyer wagons.  He has one that he used in the yard to carry all his tools for doing his yard work.  Needless to say when his eyes landed on the small toy wagon he had to have it.  And of course with his purchase I knew I had the star for the W painting in my 6" x 6" alphabet block series.  I have to admit...it does bring a smile to my face as well!

When it came to the subject for the letter V in my alphabet block series I knew from the start that it had to be valentines.  Most of us have memories of Valentine Day parties back in elementary school trading valentine cards....I know I have fond memories.  "V is for Valentine" is a  6" x 6" oil on panel painting dedicated to those memories.

"U is for Umbrella" is the next painting in my alphabet block series which are all 6" x 6" oil on panel paintings.  This painting stars two small drink umbrellas I collected just for this purpose on my last trip to Hawaii.  When we go to Hawaii it is our tradition to plan our final meal before boarding the plane at Stinger Ray's in the airport in Honolulu.  They have amazing nachos with sweet pulled pork.  These little umbrellas graced our meals and were quickly transferred to my purse to become future painting stars!
