"Green Apple" is my newest piece...fresh off the easel this afternoon.  This piece is an 18" x 18" painting.  Green is one of my favorite colors, especially a lime green.   This piece allowed me to play with all my greens as I painted the various greens on the apple, greens in the material, greens in shadow, greens in light....just lots of greens!    And of course, Granny Smith apples are my favorite apple.  Have you ever sliced up a Granny Smith apple and put peanut butter on the slices?  Nirvana!  So between the greens and the apple the choice to paint this was a no brainer.  Hope you enjoy the result!

"Losing My Marbles" is the latest addition to my Fun and Games Collection.  This piece is a commission for a client, although I probably would have done something very much similar left to my own devices.  "Losing My Marbles" was challenging as it was painted on a 12" x 16" surface.  Creating the many marbles with their variety of colors and internal shapes was truly interesting at this size!  My fingers are just too big! The table top for the still life setup is the table in my studio.  It is a game table with the wood grain going in different directions in each quarter of the table top.  Putting the setup on one of the seams so that the wood grain leads the viewer into the picture from each lower corner added to the strength of the composition.  The canning jars with the neat glass tops were found in a local antique store. I saw them and knew they were perfect for the painting.  Doesn't everyone keep their marbles in antique canning jars?
